Characterization of the clinical signs of septic arthritis in foals, with regarding patients hospitalized at the foal equine perinatology center care in the periods: 2022-2 and 2023-1 (June 2022 June 2023)

Abstract

La artritis séptica presenta varios orígenes etiológicos, una vez localizada dentro de una articulación, se produce una marcada respuesta inflamatoria, con efectos negativos sobre la salud de las articulaciones y la destrucción resultante del cartílago articular, por lo tanto, se evaluó la historia clínica de 10 potros (5%) diagnosticados con artritis séptica, a lo largo de un año siendo 195 (100%) pacientes recibidos en total por cualquier otro agente etiológico o patología (segundo semestre 2022 y primer semestre 2023) en el Centro de Perinatología Foal Care, en donde se realizó una caracterización de los principales signos clínicos que presentaban; Efusión articular, aumento de temperatura en la articulación, claudicación y fiebre.
