Abstract

El hipotiroidismo, es el síndrome clínico resultante de una deficiencia de las hormonastiroideas activas triyodotironina (T3) y tiroxina (T4). Aunque se considera un trastorno endocrino común en perros, su prevalencia exacta es en gran parte desconocida (Baldiviezo, 2021). En la actualidad muchos tutores/propietarios divagan sobre esta enfermedad y muchas veces desconocen que su animal de compañía puede presentarlo, así que es de gran importancia instruirlos mediante un manual informativo comunicando los aspectos básicos del hipotiroidismo.

Hypothyroidism is the clinical syndrome resulting from a deficiency of the active thyroid hormones triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Although it is considered a common endocrine disorder in dogs, its exact prevalence is largely unknown (Baldiviezo, 2021). Nowadays many guardians/owners ramble on about this disease and many times they are unaware that their pet can present it, thus that it is of great importance to instruct them through an informative manual communicating the basic aspects of hypothyroidism.
